Student Housing in Church Centre

All rooms are occupied for winter semester 2018/2019.
The application deadline for summer semester 2019 is January 15, 2019.

We give preference to students of the Katholische Stiftungshochschule München (Catholic University of Applied Sciences Munich) in renting our rooms.
The minimum lease period is two semesters.

• 8 rooms, ca. 10 m², 144 Euro
• Rent includes heating costs
• Furnishings: Furnished room with sink, shared kitchen, shared baths, free internet access

Good to Know:

• The minimum lease period is two semesters. The lease is issued for a complete semester in each case (winter semester: September 1st to February 28th or 29th, - summer semester: March 1st to August 31st). An extension of the lease into the next semester can be requested six weeks before the end of lease contract. The maximum total lease period is 7 semesters.
• No visitors after 23:00 hours.
• Guests may not stay overnight in rooms in the hall. There are separate guest rooms for those visiting hall residents (for a small fee).
• For all students, there is a laundry room available (several washing machines, electric dryer, large drying room).
• 2 music rooms (incl. full-sized piano, keyboard) that can be used as practice rooms (small fee for use).
• The resources offered by the Katholische Hochschulgemeinde (KHG) [Catholic University Association] Preysingstraße 89a are available to you: A variety of events are offered, from parties to excursions, evening discussions to religious services and meditation. The Advisor for the KHG and the University Pastor are your contacts for any problems concerning your studies or private topics, should you need to talk to someone. You will receive more information about the resources of the KHG on moving in and at the hall assembly as well as on the KHG website.

Procedure on Admission

• Telephone notification and confirmation (room, m², price, location, etc.)
• Notification via e-mail
• Until a specified reporting day, you have time to come to the administrative offices personally in order to sign your leasing contract. Precondition: Filling out a direct debit authorisation for the rent as well as payment by bank transfer of the security deposit at least five working days in advance: 2 months’ rent, 20 Euro processing fee and 20 Euro security deposit on the access chip
• Key handover and issue of a handover report will generally be done directly after the lease is signed

Procedure on Rejection

• Notification sent to the e-mail-address
• Return of application documents (if adequate return postage was included)
• The application documents can also be picked up in person
• There are no waiting lists
• The application will be disposed of one year after receipt

Currently the Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising offer around 1,800 places in the student residence halls in their possession. The goal is not merely to offer inexpensive student housing, but to provide the residents with an experience of community and shared life in the Christian spirit, supervision and activities, as well as shared decision-making and responsibility among the residents. Community life in this phase of a person’s life offers an opportunity for personal development. Students are empowered with positive life experiences and also positive experiences with the church that can spur them to ask questions and provoke deeper thinking. As the central contact person, the house manager/administrator provides for a special quality in the Catholic student residential halls. Residential hall management and students are responsible for the content of the events, community life and the atmosphere in the hall in the framework of shared decision making and responsibility. Various organisations are responsible for the Catholic student residential halls: The Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, independent church foundations, orders, church works organisations (Missio) and private associations (taken from: www.katholische-studentenwohnheime-muenchen.de).
